All our Tasman fares are eligible for Airpoints Dollars™ and Status Points, unless booked in N or F class (Grabaseat Greenlight fares) or purchased with Airpoints Dollars or Fly Buys. Each fare has a different earning rate. For details see our Airpoints™ calculator.
When you’re booking online, the Flexi fare option is one of the extras you can add. Most Business Class fares are already Flexi fares, but sometimes there are discounted ‘Business Saver’ fares that are non-refundable and come with the Smart Saver rules.
Smart Saver fares are non-refundable, whereas Flexi fares are fully refundable. If you buy a Smart Saver fare and later upgrade it to a Flexi fare, only the upgrade portion will be eligible for a refund.
Name changes are not permitted on any fares, so you can’t transfer them to another person.
Smart Saver fares allow date changes and rerouting right up until departure. Flexi fares allow date changes at any time. You’ll have to pay any fare difference for both Smart Saver and Flexi fares. If you’re not making the change online, a service fee of AU$60 per change per seat applies for changes made from within Australia, otherwise the service fee of the country you’re calling from will apply.
For Smart Saver fares there’s a booking change fee of AU$100 per person (infants excluded), unless you’re upgrading to Premium Economy or Business on the same flight. There is no booking change fee for Flexi fares.
If you don’t show up in time for your flight, with a Smart Saver fare that sector of your journey will be cancelled with no refund. With a Flexi fare however, a no show is fully refundable.
Airpoints™ Gold, Elite and Koru baggage allowances
Airpoints Gold and Elite members can take an additional carry-on bag (up to 7kg). Airpoints Gold, Elite and Koru members can take an additional checked bag (up to 23kg), with Economy and Premium Economy fares. Business already allows the maximum of three bags.
For children aged 2 - 11 years accompanied by an adult, a long-haul fare is 75% of the adult fare, except for Business Premier/Business Class where a child fare is the same as an adult fare.
One infant (0 - 23 months) not requiring a seat may travel with each adult at 10% of the adult fare provided the infant is less than two years old for the entire journey. Additional infants travel at the child fare level.
There is no booking service fee when booking online. If you book through our contact centre there’s a AU$60 booking service fee per seated passenger, per one-way journey.
Card payment fee when booking
Paying for your booking with a charge, credit or debit card incurs a percentage based fee that differs by card type. To avoid paying this fee you can pay by Airpoints Dollars, Air NZ Travelcard or POLi. Please see our help section for further credit card fees information.
