Airpoints™ Flexipay terms and conditions

1. Making a booking

  • Tickets purchased using Airpoints Flexipay must be booked via the Air New Zealand website, Grabaseat website or the Air New Zealand contact centre.
  • Airpoints Flexipay bookings must be paid with a combination of (a) Airpoints Dollars, and (b) the remainder with an approved debit or credit card or via internet banking (Poli). UATP Travelcard is not an eligible form of payment.
  • Airpoints Flexipay bookings can only be made for other passengers when they are listed on the Gifting Register of the person making the booking.
  • An Airpoints for Business member cannot use their Airpoints for Business balance to pay for an Airpoints Flexipay booking

2. Eligibility criteria

Flight eligibility: 

  • Payment using Airpoints Flexipay is available for new flight bookings only on any eligible flights including:
    • All Air New Zealand marketed and operated flights.
    • All Air New Zealand ticketed, partner airline operated flights.
  • Airpoints Flexipay is only available for airfares over NZD $9.00 when booking via airnewzealand.co.nz, or grabaseat.co.nz, or airfares over AUD $9.00 if booking on ainewzealand.com.au.

Minimum and maximum Airpoints Dollars required: 

  • There is a minimum of 20% and maximum of 90% applicable to the proportion of an Airpoints Flexipay payment that can be paid for using Airpoints Dollars. These percentages are subject to change.

3. Cost to use Airpoints Flexipay

  • There is a cost to use Airpoints Flexipay, in addition to the airfare, payable in Airpoints Dollars only. This amount is based on the route flown and is subject to change at any time. The cost will be displayed at the time of payment.

4. Earning Airpoints Dollars and Status Points

  • Air New Zealand and partner airline flight bookings paid for using Airpoints Flexipay may entitle passengers on the booking to earn both Airpoints Dollars and Status Points to their personal Airpoints accounts. All passengers on the booking will earn Airpoints Dollars and Status Points at 20% of the standard earn rates that apply to Air New Zealand and partner airline earn rates. 5. Booking changes and cancellations

  • Changes to Airpoints Flexipay bookings and cancellations are only permitted via the Air New Zealand contact centre and cannot be made online.

6. Refunds

  • A ticket paid for using Airpoints Flexipay is defined as an Airpoints redemption ticket. If the ticket is eligible for a refund, the refund of the fare will be made to the original forms of payment. Airpoints Dollars will be applied first, and then the Airpoints Flexipay cost. Any Airpoints Dollars and Status Points earned would also be reversed.
  • The Airpoints Flexipay cost is only refundable if the whole ticket is fully refundable. No partial or refunds of the Airpoints Flexipay cost will be made once travel has commenced.
