Complimentary Airpoints membership

If you are not already an Airpoints member when joining Koru you will be automatically enrolled in the Airpoints programme. With Airpoints, you can start earning Airpoints Dollars™ in the air with Air New Zealand and our airline partners, and many different ways on the ground with our non airline partners. Your Airpoints number is the same as your Koru membership number.

Air New Zealand lounge access

As a Koru member, whenever you're departing on an Air New Zealand issued ticket and operated flight, you can unwind in our award-winning regional, domestic and international Air New Zealand lounges. Access is also available at some partner lounges at selected overseas airports prior to departure on Air New Zealand flights, provided you’re on an Air New Zealand ticket. When you need to work on the go, you'll find faxes, photocopiers, computers, printers, internet access and WiFi on hand in many of our lounges.

Koru Express and Auckland Domestic Regional Lounge

For the benefit of regional travellers Air New Zealand operates a Koru Express at the Christchurch Regional Terminal and a new Regional Lounge located at the eastern end of the Auckland Domestic Airport. These facilities are close to the regional gates, providing a convenient location to enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks when members don't have time to visit the full Domestic Lounges upstairs.


If you’re an Elite, Elite Partner, Gold or Koru member who’d like to visit Koru Express in Christchurch, simply scan your Airpoints card, e-Ticket or boarding pass at the entrance gate. We are sorry, but guests and children cannot be accommodated and complimentary passes cannot be used in Koru Express as access is via an electronic gate and for members only.

Koru member benefits when travelling to Singapore

Koru members can access the Air New Zealand International Lounge when travelling on Air New Zealand operated flights from Auckland to Singapore. In addition Koru members will be able to access the Air New Zealand International Lounges in Auckland and Christchurch when travelling on Singapore Airlines operated flights with Air New Zealand ticket and flight number. No other benefits are available to Koru members on Singapore Airlines operated flights.

In Singapore, Koru members will be able to access the SATS lounge in Changi Airport when departing on an Air New Zealand operated flight, with a guest and must be travelling on either an Air New Zealand or Singapore Airlines ticket.

Koru member benefits on Virgin Australia

Lounge access

Air New Zealand's alliance with Virgin Australia means you'll also benefit from Virgin Australia's trans-Tasman network (not including routes to the  Pacific Islands) including access to their lounges. For Koru members this is exciting news, you will be able to relax in Virgin Australia’s domestic lounges when flying domestically in Australia with them and you will also be able to use Air New Zealand lounges when flying across the Tasman using Virgin Australia operated code share flights.

Simply show your boarding pass and your Koru membership card at the entrance prior to departure of your Virgin Australia operated flight. Subject to space being available, you will also be able to bring in one guest travelling with you.

Virgin Domestic Lounges within Australia are located in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Canberra, Mackay, Cairns and Perth.

Additional baggage allowance

On trans-Tasman flights if you book an Air New Zealand flight with a NZ flight number (eg NZ101 or NZ7000) and your fare includes checked luggage, as a Koru member you are entitled to one additional checked bag weighing no more than 23kg (no more than 3 pieces total).

If you travel on Virgin Australia flight numbers (eg VA101 or VA8000) across the Tasman or on a flight operated by Virgin Australia domestically within Australia then unfortunately you are not entitled to an additional piece of checked in luggage through your Koru membership.

Other benefits

When travelling across the Tasman on either Air New Zealand or Virgin Australia operated flights, as a Koru member you will also be welcome to enjoy the other benefits that being a Koru member offers such as priority check-in and priority baggage.

Unfortunately these same benefits do not extend to any travel on Virgin Australia operated services within Australia. However, you are still welcome to access Virgin Australia lounges when conducting travel within Australia on Virgin Australia services.

Koru member benefits on Cathay Pacific

As a Koru member, you can access our lounge in Auckland (when travelling to Hong Kong) or the Thai Airways Business Lounge in Hong Kong (when travelling to Auckland) when travelling on an Air New Zealand ticket and flight number (NZ4990-4995 operated by Cathay Pacific and NZ35, NZ85, NZ38, NZ80 operated by Air New Zealand).

Koru members are able to enjoy priority check-in, priority baggage, additional baggage allowance and priority seating on NZ flight numbers even if the service is operated by Cathay Pacific (NZ4990-4995), between Hong Kong and Auckland.

Koru benefits and lounge access does not extend to Koru members travelling on Cathay Pacific operated flights between Hong Kong and London or any other Cathay Pacific operated services not directly bound for Auckland.

Koru member benefits when travelling to Beijing

Koru members can access the Air New Zealand International Lounge when travelling on Air New Zealand marketed flights, with flight numbers starting with NZ, on Air China flights departing from Auckland to Beijing. No other benefits are available to Koru members on Air China operated flights.

In Beijing, Koru members will be able to access the BGS Premier Lounge at Beijing International Airport when departing on an Air New Zealand marketed flight, operated by Air China, to Auckland, with a guest.

Guest entitlement

As a Koru member you are welcome to bring one guest with you to Air New Zealand Lounges prior to the departure of your Air New Zealand flight. Like you, your guest needs to be departing on an Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flight from that airport that day. Guest access to the lounge is subject to space being available. Children under the age of 12 travelling with you will be accommodated in Air New Zealand operated lounges free of charge if space is available. Please note that we cannot accommodate guests in to Koru Express, located at Christchurch Regional Terminal.

If you are ever travelling with a few more friends, it might be possible to purchase a lounge pass for them to use on the day. These can be purchased at the lounge but entry is subject to space being available. Alternatively, you are welcome to purchase an annual guest card to supplement your guest entitlement throughout the year. Guest Cards can be purchased through the Koru Contact Centre or at an Air New Zealand lounge. Entry is subject to space being available, and only applicable to Air New Zealand branded and operated lounges. These guest cards and passes cannot be used at our Partner Lounges.

Priority reservations and waitlisting

Your Koru membership number is your key to making priority reservations. Please make sure you always enter your Koru membership number in every booking you make.

Whenever you would like to make a flight reservation simply call 0800 737 000 (within New Zealand) and enter your Koru membership number. Your call will then be given a higher priority and directed to our appropriate reservations team.

Frequent Flyer seating

As a Koru member, you will enjoy access to complimentary Frequent Flyer seating when travelling on an Air New Zealand operated flight (with an Air New Zealand ticket and flight number). Frequent Flyer seating is often located towards the front of our Economy cabins and includes the Space+ zone on our domestic jet services and international A320 services, and is independent from the paid Preferred and Exit Row seating options.

If completing the booking online, it's important that members are either logged in or have submitted their Airpoints number on the Enter Passenger Details page to ensure access to Frequent Flyer seating and the correct Seat Select options.

If there are any Preferred or Exit Row Seats still available 48 hours before travel, Koru members will be able to select these free of charge as an additional benefit.

Priority check-in

Like Elite and Gold members Koru members are invited to use the Premium check-in counters in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin airports, as well as Business Class check-in facilities when travelling on Air New Zealand operated flights from any other airport.

If you're flying domestically in New Zealand with carry-on luggage only, you can check-in directly at our lounges in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown airports.

Extra baggage allowance

To make your journey fast and hassle-free, your baggage will receive priority service wherever possible.

Koru members receive one extra piece of checked baggage (up to 23kg) if the fare includes a checked bag, up to a maximum of three pieces including the allowance included with your airfare. The additional piece for Koru members is available on Air New Zealand operated and ticketed flights (including NZ7000-7998 series marketed flight numbers operated by Virgin Australia) when checking in with Air New Zealand, where the fares purchased includes a checked bag and Air New Zealand baggage rules apply. This complimentary one additional piece of checked baggage is not available on VA operated and ticketed flights (including VA3000-3999 & VA8000-8999 series marketed flight numbers that are operated by Air New Zealand) or on VA ticketed Pacific Island flights operated by Virgin Australia.

For example, if your fare includes one checked bag, you may take a second checked bag (up to 23kg) free of charge. Baggage allowances vary depending on where you are travelling - to confirm your exact baggage allowance, please check here.

If checking in with another carrier, including when connecting to an Air New Zealand flight, the extra bag available to Koru members may be charged as excess.

Please note that overweight and oversized bag charges still apply to any additional baggage allowance. Seat only fares do not include a checked baggage allowance, so charges apply to all checked baggage when booked on these fares.

Fast Bag

Fast Bag is available for single sector or point to point regional domestic flights- meaning you can take your bag (weighing no more than 15kg) right to the aircraft door and collect it at the time you disembark making regional flying a breeze.

Koru Cover insurance

Travelling overseas? Take steps to protect yourself from the unexpected. Air New Zealand offers Koru Cover, international annual multi trip insurance exclusive to Koru, Gold and Elite members. Get a quote or purchase Koru annual multi trip insurance. Koru Cover only valid for Koru, Gold and Elite members who are New Zealand residents.

Koru valet parking

Koru Valet. Drive straight to the terminal and let us take the hassle out of your day with a touch of luxury.

Our exclusive valet parking service is available for Koru members travelling domestically or internationally from Auckland or Christchurch airports.

Koru Valet staff can also arrange additional services for you and your vehicle while you are away such as grooming, WOF checks, drycleaning and more. For further information contact Koru Valet on the details listed below.

You can now charge your electric vehicle when using our covered parking facilities at Auckland. Simply ask at reception if you would like your vehicle charged while you are travelling.
