Earning Airpoints Dollars
The more you travel, the more Airpoints Dollars™ you could earn and the greater your choice of Airpoints™ rewards.
In the air, you can earn Airpoints Dollars and Status Points on Air New Zealand* and many Star Alliance flights. Some flights with our other airline partners also earn Airpoints Dollars. On the ground, you can earn Airpoints Dollars with our hotel, rental car and finance card partners.
Following are some handy tips for earning Airpoints Dollars and Status Points.
Always Provide Your Airpoints Membership Number
- When you book a flight with our airline partners or Air New Zealand - even on our Smart Saver fares (you may not earn Airpoints Dollars on Smart Saver fares, but you will earn Status Points*).
- When making a reservation with a hotel or rental car partner, and at check-in.
Missing Some Airpoints Dollars or Status Points?
- Keep your original boarding passes and tickets (or E-ticket receipts) or partner receipts in a safe place until your Airpoints Dollars and Status Points appear on your online activity detail or posted statement.
- If your Airpoints Dollars or Status Points haven't appeared on your Airpoints account after two weeks, you can let us know online by logging into myairnz. Simply choose 'Missing Airpoints Dollars?' under 'myPoints'. Login or register for myairnz here. Alternatively, send the original documents to your local Contact Centre within 6 months of travel or purchase of other qualifying goods and services.
Viewing Your Account Information Online
- You can view your Airpoints account activity detail for the past year by logging into myairnz (your new-look personal homepage). Login or register here. If you were previously registered for 'My Account', your login details will work in myairnz.
Airpoints Dollars Expiry
- Airpoints Dollars are valid for between 4 and 5 years. Each year, on your anniversary of joining Airpoints, all Airpoints Dollars earned more than four years earlier will expire.
- Every time you use Airpoints Dollars, the oldest ones are used first, keeping the Airpoints Dollars due to expire to a minimum. Your myairnz online Account Summary lists when your Airpoints Dollars are due to expire. Login or register online here. If you were previously registered for 'My Account', your login details will work in myairnz.
- Your Airpoints Dollars™ will not expire while you retain Gold Elite or Gold status. Should you move below Gold status, you will have until your next anniversary of joining to use any Airpoints Dollars that would have otherwise expired. If your next anniversary falls within two months of you moving below Gold status you will have two months to utilise these Airpoints Dollars.
- While you continue to be GlobalPlus Platinum Card Holder and are the nominated earner your Airpoints Dollars will not expire.
