Status Points Head Start
Status Points Head Start has been delayed due to the impacts of COVID-19. We will update our Elite and Gold Members when we have more to share on the Status Points Head Start.
Status Points Head Start is one of our Tenure Benefits. It is an exclusive benefit for Airpoints members who have held Gold or Elite status for at least the last 10 consecutive years.
How does it work?
Once you've been an Airpoints Elite or Gold member continuously for at least the last 10 years or more, Status Points Head Start gives you a Status Points bonus at the start of every membership year you continue to be an Elite or Gold member.
The Status Points from your head start are treated the same as the Status Points you earn on Air New Zealand flights. They count towards retaining your Tier Status and upgrading to Elite. If you're an Elite already, you can also use them for Elite Status Point Rollover or to earn an Elite Banked Year or Elite threshold gift.
Who qualifies for Status Points Head Start?
You must have held Airpoints Elite or Gold status continuously for at least the last 10 years.
That could be 10 continuous years at either Elite or Gold status, or a combination of either.
Example: A member who has spent five of the past 10 years at Gold and five of the past 10 years at Elite will qualify for Status Points Head Start.
How much of a Head Start do I get?
The amount of Status Points you will receive from your Status Points Head Start depends on two things:
- Your Tier Status at the beginning of your membership year
- How many continuous years you've held Elite or Gold Tier Status
|Continuous years at Elite or Gold||Gold|
|10 - 14 continuous years||80||135|
|15 - 19 continuous years||160||270|
|20+ continuous years||240||405|
10 - 14 continuous years
15 - 19 continuous years
20+ continuous years
