Status Points and frequent flyer tiers
Earn status points to climb tiers and enjoy benefits such as priority service, lounge access, seat upgrades and extra baggage allowance.
Retaining your tier
Once you achieve a tier status, you only need to earn 90% of the Status Points for that same tier, in the next 12 months, to retain the same tier status.
For Silver and Gold tier status, at least 50% of the required Status Points must be earned on Air New Zealand travel, eligible Star Alliance travel or qualifying partner airline travel and up to 50% may be earned on credit cards, within a 12 month period to retain or upgrade Silver or Gold.
For Elite status, it's important to note that at least 60% of the required Status Points must be earned on Air New Zealand travel or qualifying partner airline travel. Status Points earned on credit cards and/or eligible Star Alliance travel may count towards up to 40% of the Status Points required within a 12 month period to retain or upgrade to Elite.
