Make the South Island your Ski destination this winter!

The South Island is home to the magnificent Southern Alps and offers a wide variety of activities to experience both on and off the fields. This wonderful mountain range dominates the landscape and is home to a host of ski fields including Mt Hutt located just a short easy drive from Christchurch. The breathtaking views from Mt Hutt on a clear day stretch across the patch-worked Canterbury Plains all the way from the Pacific Ocean to Aoraki Mt Cook. The nearby town of Methven offers a variety of accommodation just a short drive from the ski field.

Dubbed the “Southern Hemisphere’s premier winter destination”, Queenstown is a haven for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities and those that just love the après ski atmosphere. The two key ski fields are The Remarkables and Coronet Peak both of which offer easy transport services directly from Queenstown to the base of the ski fields. Treble Cone and Cardrona are also just a short drive away, nearer to Wanaka. Fancy a rest day or time to absorb the stunning landscapes? How about trying snow shoeing, sky diving, ziplining, hot pools or head to any of Queenstown and Wanaka’s amazing restaurants or wineries. There’s so much more to do in New Zealand this winter and it’s easy to get there with Air New Zealand.
