Air New Zealand moves to fuel inclusive fares

16 March 2009

Air New Zealand has today announced that from 30 March 2009, the airline will incorporate fuel surcharges (YQ) into all fares sold ex Australia.

John Harrison General Manager, Australia for Air New Zealand says, "apart from the benefits of simplicity and transparency, Air New Zealand commissions will now be calculated using the fuel inclusive level, providing improved earnings ability for our agency partners when selling Air New Zealand."

"This change will make Air New Zealand fares fully inclusive with no additional charges for fuel, initial baggage allowance, food, drink or in-flight entertainment on any fare type, making them some of the most competitive in the market."

"Our fares make it even easier and quicker for consultants to provide their customers with the total cost of air travel, eliminating the need to factor in the complexities around additional expenditure for ancillary items. More than ever it makes sense for consultants to make Air New Zealand their first choice when searching their GDS systems for fares."

A new range of competitive all inclusive fares will be distributed to the trade today for sales effective from 30 March 2009.
