Air New Zealand has reduced its fares (effective today) for travel between Nelson and Wellington by up to eight percent following a review of prices on its regional routes.
Operated by Link carrier Air Nelson, flights on this route will be priced from $79 one way online, a reduction of $7, with the same percentage of fares available for sale at this lowest Smart Saver range.
The mid-range (Semi-Flexi) lead in fare has been reduced by $7, from $110 to $103 one way online, and the most expensive Fully Flexi fare reduced by $22 from $261 to $239 one way online.
Group General Manager Short Haul Airlines, Norm Thompson, said "Airline pricing structures need to take into account a number of operational variables - not only distance and flight times but also the aircraft type, flight path operated and fuel consumed, to name a few.
"However, in recognition of falling demand on the Nelson-Wellington route over recent months, we have moved to offer a more affordable fare for the leisure market," said Mr Thompson.
"This is good news for our customers especially given the impending Wearable Arts Awards function later this month which will no doubt mean additional traffic between the two centres."
