Media Bulletin Three: Countdown to Tasman Express

20 October 2003

Fashionably Late Could Cost At The Gate!

Many of Air New Zealand's Tasman Express travellers will need to ensure they get to the airport on time, and not leave checking-in to the very last minute. While the new Tasman Smart Saver and Tasman Flexi Saver fares are on average 20% lower they are non-fundable. This means that if customers miss a flight they will have to buy a new ticket for travel - unless of course there are mitigating circumstances beyond their direct control.

International check-in counters open 3 hours before departure - so arrive in time and avoid any last minute rush at the Airport prior to boarding your aircraft.
To help customers check-in in plenty of time and to reduce congestion at the Airport, Air New Zealand opens its international check-in counters 3 hours prior to the departure of all its international flights. We recommend you check-in at least 2 hours prior to your flight departing, in particular if your aircraft leaves from Auckland International Airport.
Customers who are travelling as part of a group and require group check-in will need to plan to arrive at the same time and assemble together to assist their check-in process.

Be at the Gate Lounge 45 minutes prior to departure
To avoid unnecessary delays and enable your flight to depart on time, please make sure you are at the Gate Lounge for boarding 45 minutes prior to departure.

"Being There is Everything"

Air New Zealand's Tasman Express launches during the busiest time of the year with many people travelling overseas - we want to ensure that your travel experience from check-in to arrival is as smooth as possible.

Keep tabs on your flight departure time
Flight departure and arrival information for Air New Zealand's international services is constantly updated and available by calling Auckland - (09) 306 5560; Wellington - 04 388 9900; or Christchurch - (03) 374 7100 and through the Air New Zealand website (www.airnewzealand.co.nz).

Allow sufficient time for your journey to the Airport and parking your car
Remember our Tasman Smart Saver and Tasman Flexi Saver fares are non-refundable on the day of travel if you arrive too late for check-in or miss your flight.

Have all your travel documentation in advance of your travel
Make sure you have obtained all the necessary travel documentation in advance of your travel. Any customers who do not hold an Australian or New Zealand passport require a visa for travel to Australia.

Pay your Departure Tax
The New Zealand departure tax is not included in your airfare and will need to be paid at the Airport before proceeding through Customs - allow enough time to complete this process.

Assistance Required?
Customers who require additional assistance (eg: unaccompanied children) are strongly advised to check-in early so we can best support their needs
