Media Bulletin Four: Countdown to Tasman Express

24 October 2003

New Tastes Onboard

Next week customers travelling across the Tasman will experience a complimentary meal and beverage service with a difference. An original and nutritious Tasman Express menu will be offered with two options available per flight from the variety of meals developed by our consultant chef.

Customers will continue to enjoy Air New Zealand's complimentary beverage selections of tea, coffee, water, juice, soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits.

Special Meals

One special dairy-free vegetarian meal option only will be available on Tasman Express as part of the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. This special meal option covers the widest possible range of current special meal requirements - vegetarian as well as other special religious requirements where animal products are not allowed or are limited. Special meals are not allergy-free.

Note: For customers connecting with our long haul international or Pacific Island flights, a wide range of special meals remain available on those sectors to cater for customers with specific religious, ethnic and dietary requirements.

Allergen-free Meals

We advise that as from 29 October 2003, Air New Zealand will no longer provide allergen-free meals on any of our services.

Note: Customers with specific food allergies are advised to bring their own pre-packed snacks onboard.

Child and Infant Meals

Tasman Express will not provide a special child or infant meal option. However, children can choose from the menu selection.

Specific Dietary Requirements

Customers with specific dietary requirements may bring onboard their own pre-packed snacks. However, please note: For safety reasons no hot beverages will be allowed to be brought onboard.

Cabin Crew are unable to refrigerate, heat or add water to any items customers bring onboard. Customers will need to be mindful of the quarantine requirements for food to be either eaten or destroyed prior to landing in another country.
