Air New Zealand will continue to expand its regional services as required to meet customer demand.
Origin Pacific in its media release of September 13 incorrectly stated that Air New Zealand was expanding capacity only on regional routes scheduled to be flown by Origin Pacific. This is not the case. The Air New Zealand media release Origin Pacific refers to only relates to those regional services operated by Air Nelson. Mount Cook Airlines and Eagle Air have also increased capacity, in many cases on regional routes that Origin Pacific does not fly.
Likewise, it is no secret in the travel industry that Air New Zealand is adding two additional Boeing 737 aircraft to the main trunk routes this summer, with corresponding increases in flights over the summer period to meet customer demand.
It would seem from Origin Pacific's media release of 10 September, in which it stated that it was adding an additional 10,000 seats per month, that Origin Pacific is also experiencing increased customer demand.
